
Think, for a minute, what it’s like on a rainy day.
The sky is full of thick, gray clouds, and everything from sidewalks to upturned umbrellas is bedashed (see definition and hear pronunciation below) with rain.
It’s an ordinary occurrence, but the formation of those raindrops is pretty extraordinary.
It actually takes millions of cloud droplets to produce a single raindrop.
We typically think of raindrops as tear-shaped, but most small raindrops are spherical, with a radius of less than 1 millimeter.
