Oxen are some of the hardest-working and strongest animals around.
They pull heavy loads in wagons and are sometimes used for plowing.
It’s not unusual for one of these massive creatures to weigh up to 2,000 to 3,000 pounds!
But these animals are not known as oxen everywhere.
In India, New Zealand and Australia, they are called bullocks (see definition and hear pronunciation below).
So, if you ever travel to one of these places, you’ll know just the right word to use if you spot one of these animals!
