Privacy Policy

The Cool Word Club (CWC) is committed to ensuring the safety and privacy of its web users and customers. Because students (some of whom may be under age 13) are among the primary users of the CWC web site, we comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

In accordance with the COPPA, the CWC requires verifiable consent of a parent or guardian in order for any child under age 13 to sign up to receive free blog postings, notification of contests or any other content released by the CWC via email, RSS or any other electronic means of communication.

The CWC will not knowingly…

— gather personally identifiable information about children under age 13 without a parent or guardian’s verifiable consent.

— permit children under age 13 to respond to CWC blog postings without a parent or guardian’s verifiable consent.

— post links to any online material that is not suitable for children under age 13.

Before collecting any personal information, the CWC will seek verifiable parental consent via email, letter or phone call. In accordance with the COPPA, a parent may revoke his/her consent, refuse to allow the CWC to further use or collect his/her child’s personal information and direct the CWC to delete the information.

Personal information, including name, address, email address, hobbies, etc., may be collected directly or passively through the use of cookies. Any personal information that is gathered by the CWC is for internal use only and for the sole purpose of improving the services and products that are offered to its web users and customers. Any demographic or statistical information gathered is also used for the purpose of market research in order to better serve the users and customers of the CWC. Personal information will not be sold or rented to third parties.

The CWC reserves the right to update and/or modify this privacy policy at any time.

If you have any further questions about the CWC privacy policy, please contact the CWC at PO Box 8181, Stamford, CT 06907, 203-614-WORD (9673), and [email protected].
