Can you imagine a fish that weighs as much as 100 pounds?
A fascinating variety known as Asian carp or “flying fish” can grow that large.
These fish are considered an “invasive specifies” because they are not native to North America.
The population of these fish has grown so profuse (see definition and hear pronunciation below) that the ecosystem has actually been harmed.
It’s also been reported that these fish can injure people by leaping out of the water and sometimes landing on boats.
So while flying fish may be fun to watch from afar, you probably don’t want to get too close!
