triad-cool-vocabulary-words

If you enjoy watching comedy, you need to know about The Three Stooges.

Beginning nearly 100 years ago, American fans began enjoying the antics of these comedic actors.

Known for their zany slapstick comedy, the Stooges starred in black-and-white films that can still be seen in syndication on television.

Although six different actors were involved with the group at different times, Moe, Larry and Curly are the best-known members of the comedy triad (see definition and hear pronunciation below).

If you needed some new plates and bowls, you would probably go to the store to buy them.

But ancient civilizations had to make their own.

With no glass or plastic available, pottery became the solution.

Pottery is created from clay that is moistened and then molded into the shape of a functional item, such as a bowl or dish, or a decorative object, such as a vase.

The piece is then placed in a kiln (see definition and hear pronunciation below), where it is heated at very high temperatures so that it will harden.

Pottery is still produced to this day in a variety of beautiful forms that are often sold as works of art!

Cool word question of the day: What do you think the challenges might be when using a kiln to create pottery?

But is that a mistake?

The average American household receives only one personal letter every two months, according to the US Postal Service.

Because a handwritten note is more of a novelty these days, it can have a far greater impact than a digital message.

The next time you’d like to make a lasting impression, consider writing a letter.
