The Hunchback of Notre-Dame is a captivating novel that has been around for nearly two centuries.
Published in 1831 by the French author Victor Hugo, the story focuses on Quasimodo, the bell-ringer at the famous Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, France.
Born with many physical deformities, Quasimodo is a pariah (see definition and hear pronunciation below), who longs to lead a “normal” life and be accepted by society.
