Our planet is filled with many fascinating animals that show off their skills when most of us are sleeping. The coyote, known for its piercing howl, is one of the most accomplished nighttime hunters. Even in the darkness, coyotes, also known as prairie wolves or American jackals, have trenchant (see definition and hear pronunciation below) eyesight. As predators, coyotes target a variety of animals, including mice, squirrels and rabbits. Fortunately, coyote attacks on humans aren’t that common, but it’s still a good idea to steer clear of these undomesticated animals!
