Picture the deep-golden hue of maple syrup as it trickles over a warm stack of pancakes.
Did you know that maple syrup has been around for hundreds of years? Native Americans introduced it to the European colonists who first settled in America.
Used to sweeten many foods, this tree sap is delicious to eat but can be messy.
So, try not to spill this viscous (see definition and hear pronunciation below) syrup. With its gooey consistency, it is difficult to remove from your clothes, your hands–and even your hair. Ouch!
Cool word vocabulary question of the day: Can you think of other viscous treats?
