His Story Lacked Veracity…

cool-word-club-learn-words

Cyclist Lance Armstrong became a household name after winning the Tour de France seven consecutive times.

However, his standing as a professional athlete was forever tarnished when it came to light that he had used performance-enhancing drugs.

For years, Armstrong denied those charges, even though many people who knew him questioned the veracity (see definition and hear pronunciation below) of his statements.

Eventually, Armstrong admitted during a television interview that he had been dishonest.

His story is a sad example of the devastating consequences of not telling the truth!

Cool word question of the day: Have you ever questioned the veracity of statements from someone you know?

If you enjoy reading, then the length of the book that you choose probably doesn’t matter to you.

Oftentimes, the most rewarding books to read are quite lengthy.

In fact, some classics are well over 1,000 pages.

Some well-known examples include Leo Tolstoy’s War and Peace, Victor Hugo’s Les Miserables and Alexandre Dumas’ The Count of Monte Cristo.

Even though you may be a bit intimated by the prospect of completing one of these tomes (see definition and hear pronunciation below), this is a reading challenge well worth taking!

Bicycles are fun to ride and a great form of transportation.

But bicycles can also be dangerous.

The risks associated with bicycle riding depend on many factors, such as the experience level of the rider. Riding at nighttime is also more dangerous than daytime travel.

Of course, wearing a helmet is one of the best ways to protect yourself if you’re riding a bicycle.

This one piece of equipment can help prevent a serious injury—or even death.

So, be prudent (see definition and hear pronunciation below) and always wear a helmet when you go out for a spin!
