Anyone who is born in the United States automatically becomes a US citizen.

However, if you weren’t born in the US but wish to become a US citizen, you may apply for citizenship through a process known as naturalization.

To become a naturalized citizen, there are many eligibility requirements and compulsory (see definition and hear pronunciation below) steps that must be completed.

For example, anyone who applies for citizenship must take a test to show his/her knowledge of US history and government.

Could you pass the test to become a US citizen? Check yourself at this link: http://www.uscis.gov/citizenship/quiz/learners/study-test/study-materials-civics-test/naturalization-self-test-1
