For many years, people with disabilities were excluded from schools, jobs and even restaurants.
Fortunately, the Americans with Disabilities Act was promulgated (see definition and hear pronunciation below) in 1990 to end discrimination against persons with disabilities.
Since the passage of this law, equality for persons with disabilities has become the norm throughout the United States.
