Summer is a perfect time to travel to a sunny beach!
Whether you’re going on a family vacation or just getting together with friends, it’s a great place to hang out.
On the East Coast, the beaches of Ocean City, New Jersey, are popular for sunning and walking the Boardwalk.
If you hear someone say, “It’s a good beach day,” then you know the weather forecast is probably sunny and hot.
Beware, however, of those forecasts that call for intermittent (see definition and hear pronunciation below) showers. This means that rain could fall on and off for the entire day.
Then you’ll never know when the rain will strike or how long it will last!
Cool word vocabulary question of the day: Can you think of any other weather events that are intermittent?
Intermittent: Periodic; on and off; stopping and starting at intervals.
